Interested in a sport that is suitable for all ages, genders and physical abilities? Then, how about trying the game of Lawn Bowls?
Dunnington Bowling Club, located in the Dunnington Sports & Social Club complex in Common Lane, Dunnington, has a superb facility catering for social, friendly & competitive bowls. Our bowling green is widely regarded as one of the finest in the North of England.
They welcome both new and experienced bowlers to join them. You are invited to join on your own, as a couple or as a family, bowls have something to offer everyone.
They are a sociable group; when not bowling, they are often found having a chat over a cuppa in the bowls pavilion or up in the club bar for a heartier drink.
All new bowlers will be offered coaching to allow them to learn the game. No equipment is necessary as they have plenty of bowls to borrow while you learn; all other playing equipment is provided by the club. The only item you need to provide is smooth-soled footwear.
They have a wide variety of activities that will appeal to everyone. There are social roll-ups, friendly matches, competitive league matches and club competitions. The club has a very good reputation in the local leagues and is a regular winner of silverware. They have ladies’, men’s, mixed and veterans’ teams.
The playing season runs from mid-April to mid-September. In the first few weeks of the season, the club holds taster sessions for people to come along, try out bowls and get to know everyone. Throughout the rest of the season, they have regular social bowls evenings.
